An Inn of Hot Springs and Cats

Beppu Hot Springs of Oita Prefecture, which boasts the largest amount of spring water in Japan, is also called "Beppu Hachiyu" and is a hot spring village formed by eight areas of hot springs. Among this is a place where a large amount of steam rises in the city and even from the waterways of the street; "Kannawa Hot Springs" is a unique hot spring area full of traveler’s spirit. In addition to healing the fatigue of those traveling, there is also the ecological food culture "Jigokumushi" that uses geothermal steam, and a variety of specialty products that make use of the spring’s qualities. The hot spring bath, which is an indispensable part of your stay and a part of life, offers a variety of benefits along with its abundant hot water. In addition, our cats, who all found their way to us and each other, give us a great deal of charm and relaxation. There are many warm exchanges between them and our cat-loving guests and the community. This inn of skin-beautifying hot springs and cats "Kannawa Yunoka" await your arrival along with our three felines, "Kabosu", "Yuzu" and "Zabon".

A Smooth and Comfortable Hot Spring

Among Beppu’s Hachiyu, "Kannawa Hot Springs" has the most amount of springs. This colorless, transparent and slightly acidic water that is gentle on the skin is a chloride spring that does not lose its temperature easily and has a bactericidal effect, making it ideal for treating certain ailments. In addition, because it contains a great deal of the natural moisturizing ingredient "metasilicic acid" which makes the skin feel soft and smooth, it is very popular with ladies as a “beautifying spring”.

Spring quality

Sodium-Chloride Spring (weak acid hypotonic high temperature spring)
pH Value 4.0, Metasilicic Acid 109mg / kg
Effective on the following:
Cuts, peripheral nervous circulation disorder, chills, depression, dry skin

Just the Right Temperature for a Hot Spring Treatment

The water pouring out at about 60 ℃ fills the bathtub at the appropriate temperature of 41 to 42 ℃. The salt contained in the chloride spring forms a protective film on the skin, and can be expected to have high moisturizing and warming effects.

Springs Rich in Metasilicic Acid

The hot spring contains over 100mg of metasilicic acid (a natural moisturizing ingredient) per 1kg of water, the standard for springs with beautifying effects. It promotes the metabolism in skin and helps it to become smooth.

The Weak Acidity Makes It Safe for Children

The pH value which is said to be close to human skin is around 6 to7.5 neutral to 3 to 6 weak acidity. The hot water of "Kannawa Yunoka" has a pH value of 4.0 and is slightly acidic, making it gentle on the skin with little chance of irritation.
